Paul is an active mountaineer, walking, mountain biking and climbing whenever possible. For over ten years now he has been involved in Outdoor Education, delivering a wide range of experiences and challenges to meet the needs of many different organisations and groups, working with people of all ages, ability and backgrounds.He holds National Governing Body qualifications in Mountain Walking, Climbing and Mountain Biking, and is licensed through the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS). Paul is passionate about the outdoors and he recently left Local Government as a Senior Personnel Manager to pursue his ambition to develop a career in Outdoor Education. He enjoys meeting and working with people, and as well as instructing in the more traditional outdoor pursuits activities he is now using the outdoor environment to complement his staff development and staff management experiences to deliver Team Building and Management Development training.For details of other Instructors Paul works with follow the Instructors link below

An introductory trip usually involves walking and stooping with the occasional crawl down side passages, but these can always be avoided if desired.At the other extreme participants may be climbing waterfalls, squeezing and crawling down stalactite filled passages or walking down vast tunnels covered with the most beautiful calcite formations imaginable. If you are considering any underground trips it is advisable that you speak with our underground leader to discuss what you want from the trip.

Exploring natural caves in County Durham and Yorkshire.
Trips can involve a simple guided short tour, or be used as a proper introduction for those who may want to go on to develop skills to take up caving as a regular sport.
Note: Caving is not all about crawling about in the pitch dark getting soaking wet! An introductory trip usually involves walking and stooping with the occasional crawl down side passages, but these can always be avoided if desired.
At the other extreme participants may be climbing waterfalls, squeezing and crawling down stalactite filled passages or walking down vast tunnels covered with the most beautiful calcite formations imaginable.
If you are considering any underground trips it is advisable that you speak with our underground leader to discuss what you want from the trip.
ProgressionFrom introductory one hour trips, you can progress to our Cave Safe special 2 day courses which will enable people gain the skills required to undertake their own underground trips. Details of these courses can be discussed on an as required basis.

Les and Mike operate in the same way as Paul, ie as independant providers of Outdoor Education, but they often work together as a team of two, or three, depending upon numbers involved and the activity chosen. This 'mini team' works well as Paul, Les and Mike share expertise in some areas but each also have areas of specialism that the others don't have, so in combination they offer a very broad spectrum of activities. Les is the lead for underground adventures for example, and Mike is the lead on water based pursuits. Les Hewitt is a qualified rock climber, caver, mine leader and orienteer.During 15 years as a Countryside Warden Les was responsible for the development of outdoor adventure activities for Northumberland National Park, working with groups and individuals from all walks of life.He coordinated one of the best children's outdoor activity playschemes in the north-east and went on to become Director of Adventure Activities at Mowden Hall school. In 2009 he worked alongside Paul Robinson and Mike Graham to deliver an Adventure Activities programme during the summer holidays. MiDAS is organised by the Community Transport Association U.K. (CTA) which promotes a nationally recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers. It is a membership based scheme that has been designed to enhance minibus driving standards and promote the safer operation of minibuses. Many public bodies have adopted MiDAS as a means of addressing the assessment of risks from driving and carrying passengers within their particular organisation.
Member organisations range from small voluntary organisations operating one vehicle, to local authorities operating large fleets of minibuses as well as schools, colleges and universities.Course OutlinePaul Robinson is a MiDAS qualified Driver Assessor/Trainer (DAT) who can deliver a course programme in accordance with MiDAS requirements and to MiDAS standards.
